Gentlemen still exist

Many of you ladies out there would claim that the gentlemen of yesteryears no longer exist; they are an extinct breed; they died just after the dinosaurs died. BUT I dare prove you wrong. In fact a couple of weeks ago I came across one such person and just 2 days ago another.

Here’s what happen ...

In the first instance I was driving along Bt Timah Road and looking out for passengers. It was really raining cats and dogs. It was so bad I couldn’t really see more than a few meters in front of me (and no its not age catching up with my eyes). Suddenly I saw this guy standing in the rain trying to flag me down. The poor guy was soaked to the skin. I stopped for him and when I did he walked back to the sheltered area and talked to a lady, she then boarded the taxi while he loaded her bags of shopping into the boot of my car (yes still in the rain). When he was done, he slammed the boot shut and walked back into the shelter. I turn around and the lady told me where to go. As we travelled I started talking to the lady and found out that she just met the guy and he offered to get her a cab as it was raining ... if that is not a gentleman I don’t know what is.
Thinking that it was an isolated incident I didn’t think too much of it. Then 2 days ago it happened again. I was driving out of a small street when a guy flagged me down only to tell four ladies (who were looking the other direction) to take my cab ... and yes it was raining as well.

So to the ladies out there, don’t complain that all the good guys and gentlemen don’t exist anymore. They are out there and you just need to look. Or maybe they only come out when it’s raining.

Knowing that gentlemen like that are out there certainly brought a smile to my face.
