After driving a taxi for 6 months, I come to realize that a lot of people don’t know how to make their taxi trips pleasant. With that I have compiled a list of Taxi Tips
1 Flag Down Early – Many people expect taxi drivers to be mind readers. Unless you are in a taxi stand / queue please wave your hands to indicate that you need a taxi and please please please indicate early. So many times I see someone standing at the kerb of a busy street looking at my taxi ... just as I am about to pass them *pionk* their hand shoot out to indicate that they want a taxi.
2 Destination – Please let the taxi driver know your destination clearly. If possible give a junction like Woodlands Avenue 7 at the junction of drive 75; Woodlands Avenue 7 can be rather long and don’t complain if the driver takes you to the wrong end. If you have a preferred route please tell the drive the route to take one step at a time. Most drivers are old and may not remember all those instructions. And if you plan multiple destinations please let the driver know at the start of the journey as the driver might have other bookings or a need to go to the toilet!
3 Smell – If you just finish a cigarette, please try to exhale a couple of times before you board the taxi. You may not notice it but the smell of stale smoke stays with you for a while. It would even be better to ask the driver to wind down the windows for a while to rid the smell. You may want to do this if you just finish some sport and have not taken a bath as well.
Just some simple tips to make your trips more pleasant
